Strengthening Capacity for Improved Community Health (SCICH) - RH work place based project is a new project which implemented since 01 January 2007 and the project period is 33 months start from 01 January 2007 to 31 September 2009. This project is continue from the Anakut Thmey project.

5 garment factories and one new factories are selected to implement the project (Gennon, Wilson, PCCS, PDC and Ming Hoi). By providing many activities such as Life Skills Training, Small and Big Health Promotion, Peer follow up and peer refresher meeting, peer cross visit, line leader meeting, Youth corner, Social marketing, Suggest Box and other information, education and communication activities to provide intensive health education, addressing knowledge, misunderstandings and social norms that put young people at risk of sexual reproductive health problems.. Besides the usual reproductive health advocacy program, training and promotion on ante and post natal cares and nutrition will be conducted to factory clinic staff and the target young factory workers. Under the leadership of CSCS, a Nutrition survey will be designed and conducted to identify the degree of nutrition of food available in the target factories then Training based on Nutrition concept to the food vendors will conducted.

The project objectives are:
Building the capacity of factory health providers to provide quality services to young workers and strengthen health referral networks to external service providers.

  • Enhancing the capacity of factory health service providers and supporting referral for quality sexual health services.
  • Increasing knowledge on sexual health and promoting sustained behavior changes to improve sexual health practices among garment factory workers at project sites.

Project provides more beneficiaries both direct and indirect to factory workers and communities. 300 factory workers are trained as peer educators, 300 food vendors are trained based on Nutrition and approximately over 9,000 factory workers are provided through mass health awareness in the 5 factories.
