The project was implemented in Kampong Cham (districts of Kang Meas and Srei Santhor). A medical doctor led the education campaign and provided free medical consultation and advocacy mainly on nutrition and hygiene to village people and schoolchildren

Brief description of activities:

  • Extension of the eradication of IDD to Kompong Cham province.
  • Door-to-door education, information video stand, iodised salt distribution and testing;
  • The education was extended to include Vitamin A deficiency, Iron Deficiency Anaemia (IDA) as parts of the nutrition education to the people of Srey Santhor and Kang Meas districts;
  • In addition to these activities, a medical stand with a medical doctor offered free consultations and distributed some medicines.
  • A "magic salt" activity was organized in primary schools.
  • Organization of two district workshops with local authorities and health centers staff.
