Project: Crime Prevention and Community Safety in Prey Veng Province

CSCS was awarded a pilot project "Crime Prevention and Community Safety in Prey Veng Province". The project aims at contributing to a prosperous, safe and secure environment in Cambodia by establishing sustainable collaborative crime prevention, community safety and community justice initiatives. The project also aims to improve access to justice for Juvenile and vulnerable groups and some people infected with HIV & AIDS. Youth diversion is a key element of the project which is addressed through Local life skills Programs and Youth clubs.
A public awareness campaign was organised at the village level and preventive measure messages reached the target population and especially the youth.
Following the workshops, local officials were selected and trained so they may be able to conduct at the grass-root level field operations on crime prevention, and community safety.
Beneficiaries of the project:
Victims of sexual assaults, crimes, young people (13 - 25 year old), the general population at the village and household levels. The direct target population is estimated to be 59,531 persons.
Local authorities such as the provincial staff of the Governor's office, the provincial department of the Ministry of Justice, the police, and district, commune and village chiefs were also targeted. The local authorities actively participated to achieve a successful outcome for the project by conducting work-shops and field activities with the final beneficiaries.
