CSCS is implementing the School Health Promotion project supported by Plan International in Cambodia in Srey Snam district, Siem Reap province. The main purpose of the project is to enable children/pupils to strengthen or adopt new healthy practices and habits on child health, and increase vulnerable children’s access to health information, education, communication and related services. The project also intends to contribute to the improvement of the learning education and quality of life of children in 25 target schools and communities through mobilizing and empowering children to taking action for their own health.
Target groups and key stakeholders
- Pupils of the 25 target primary schools located in Srey Snam district
- Teachers and principals/ school directors
- Education authorities: district education office
- Local authorities: commune councils, heads of village and district governor, Health Center staff and Operational Health District centres
- Community representatives for school: school support committees, including parents.
Goal:
Improve healthy practices of school pupils both at home and target schools.
Objectives
- To develop capacity of local human resources such as pupils, peer educators, school principals, school teachers, including school facilitators, DoE staff, and other key stakeholders of the School Health Promotion project.
- To increase knowledge / perception on school health promotion by providing up-to-date information, documents, IEC materials and IPC (inter-personal communication) skills to the target groups.
- To create an enabling environment; to bring support from all key stakeholders (see below); to be able to resolve child health issues.
